Library Resources for Veterans & Military Families
HCPL would like to thank and welcome veterans, service members, and their families to the library. HCPL provides access to several resources, including VetNow, JobNow, and Tutor.com, for those seeking help with veteran benefits, career support, academic assistance, and more. If you haven't already, stop by your closest library location to sign-up for a library card and start exploring all that is available to you. Additionally, this November we look forward to hosting programs that honor veteran history and experiences. PROGRAMS
Veteran’s History with the Library of Virginia: Volunteer Transcribe-a-thon
- Wednesday, November 6, 6-8PM at Tuckahoe
- Thursday, November 7, 6-8PM at Fairfield
- Tuesday, November 12, 6-8PM at Twin Hickory
- Earn volunteer hours and recognize Virginia’s contributions to World War II by transcribing World War II separation notices and other historical documents. Help us make these records more searchable and useful for researchers now and in the future. Registration is required for students who need access to a library computer. Students who bring their own laptops do not need to register. Tablets and phones are not encouraged.
- Saturday, November 16, 2-3PM at Glen Allen
- Hear stories of joy and sorrow, prosperity and sacrifice, from diverse Richmonders who served. This program highlights the stories of veterans of many conflicts -- from world wars to current times. Presented by The Valentine Museum.
