Introducing 100 Books Before Graduation
Introducing 100 Books Before Graduation, a new program that encourages teens in grades 6-12 to read by keeping track of the books you have to read, alongside the books you want to read, and earning prizes along the way!
At the library, we hope to promote reading. We want to connect you with materials that inspire you to read for fun, read for school, read to inform and educate yourself, read to relax, and read for entertainment. We hope you’ll read in any genre that interests you. Because reading benefits you in so many ways, setting you up for greater success personally, socially, academically, and even professionally in life. Above all, we hope you will read with passion and joy.
With 100 Books Before Graduation, we hope to reward you for connecting with and learning about what interests you, right now.
Participate entirely online by signing up through Beanstack or visit your local HCPL teen department to pick up a paper tracking sheet. You can also print your Reading Log at home.
To track your books online, log in to your account and click the “Log Reading” button to begin tracking your progress. If you prefer to log your books on a mobile device, download the free Beanstack Tracker app for iOS or Android.
Not sure what to read? Visit our Teen page for recommendations! Submit a My Next Read request to receive a customized list of titles from one of our librarians, browse award-winning fiction and Virginia Reader’s Choice selections, explore hundreds of recommendations and read-alikes through Novelist, sign up for LibraryAware newsletters to receive genre-specific recommendations, and browse All of the Manga in our collection. Of course, you can always ask a librarian too! Call, visit, or chat with us through the "Ask a Librarian" feature on our website (green tab on the right hand side). Plus, stay tuned to our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter channels for recommendations from other teens!
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
