Did You Know: One Button Recording Studio
The Fairfield Library has a recording studio. Yes, you read that right - a library with a recording studio! Referred to as the One Button Recording Studio, this space allows you to record podcasts, capture oral histories, conduct a virtual interview and record quiet unamplified music or music recorded digitally using headphones.
What can I use this space for?
The One Button Recording Studio is designed for simple audio and video projects that do not require a lot of editing. So far, Fairfield patrons have used the space to record podcasts, vlogs, cartoon voiceovers, and spoken word poetry and participate in virtual job interviews. Additionally, the room is great if you’re in need of a neutral background for a virtual call.
For more advanced recording projects, we recommend reserving the podcasting or camera equipment from the Digital Media Lab. Just remember to bring an external storage device to save your work!
Not sure where to begin? Fairfield staff are happy to discuss options regarding your recording project; give them a call at 804-501-1930 x6, or stop by the library and ask in person!
What equipment is available in this space?
The One Button Recording Studio is equipped with a 55" wall monitor, a room PC with a monitor, a microphone, and two video cameras. You are welcome to bring your own laptop or other small devices into the space. Previously, patrons have also brought in small backdrops and props to enhance their video setup. When planning your project, keep in mind that the room can only accommodate two people at a time.
How do I reserve this space?
