On Alzheimer’s and Dementia: Events This Spring

The Alzheimer’s Association is presenting several programs that promote brain health and improve the lives of people affected by Alzheimer’s or dementia. Learn about the warning signs and work to strengthen your memory at these interactive events.

Know the Signs
Twin Hickory Library
Tuesday, January 28, 3:00 pm
This program gives participants a review of the warnings signs of dementia diseases, Alzheimer's specifically, and when a person should consider a medical evaluation.

3 Week Brain Boot Camp
Glen Allen Library
Tuesdays, February 4, 11, and 18, 3:00 pm
An interactive program for those who wish to: Learn basic techniques for handling everyday memory challenges, get guidance for healthy heart and brain diets, and take home strategies and exercises to continue improving memory.

Brain Power Social Hour
Glen Allen Library
Tuesdays, 3:00 pm, March 3 – May 26
Fairfield Library
Fridays, 10:00 am, March 6 – May 29
Increase cognitive stimulation through education, brain games and social activities. This event is presented by the Alzheimer's Association and is open to the community, caregivers, and persons living with dementia.

These programs are for anyone affected by Alzheimer’s or dementia at all ages and stages. Registration is not required.

If you are unable attend an event, we have resources that you can access from home or place on hold to pick up at the library near you.

These kits contain a variety of media, books, and photo cards with images and questions about the past designed to spark conversations, which can help foster connections between those living with dementia and their caregivers.
