September is National Library Card Sign-up Month!
Your Henrico County Public Library card is the most important school supply. With it you can do so much more than take home books. You can check out movies, magazines, and audiobooks. We have Birding and Nature Exploration kits, Caregiver kits, and Book Discussion sets that you can take home. Libbie Mill Library even has American Girl Dolls that you can check out to play with in the library!
"September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide join together to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning." — American Library Association
All libraries have computers available for cardholders to use, and we provide the Adobe Creative Suite in our Digital Media Labs at Libbie Mill and Varina.
We have a large digital collection that is available 24/7. Check out ebooks, audiobooks, music, movies, and magazines onto your tablet or device with our OverDrive, Hoopla, and RBDigital services. Find more information on each service here, or contact your library to get set up.
Your library card also allows you to access premium databases such as Rosetta Stone, Consumer Reports, and Chilton Library. There is something on every topic from business to agriculture and many include professional and academic literature. View the full list here.
During the month of September, Henrico County Public Library is replacing all lost or worn out library cards for free! If you need a new card, come in and pick up a replacement. Don’t have a card? Just stop by any library location to sign up. Eligibility and instructions on what to bring can be found here.
