Holiday Craft Programs

If you were inspired by our Do-It-Yourself Gift Giving booklist, stop by the library for one of our holiday craft programs. We have activities for all ages or for the whole family. Come get some hands-on learning experience while celebrating the holiday season, and take home a book to keep crafting!

Make a Difference in Your Community!

If you enjoy helping people, want to make your community a better place, or just need to complete your school requirements, there are great opportunities for teens and tweens to volunteer at the Library and in the community. Read on for more information on volunteering at the library and beyond!

Henrico Christmas Mother Book Drive

Our Teen Advisory Boards are once again collecting books as part of the Henrico Christmas Mother Campaign! We are accepting donations of new children’s books at all library locations.

Homework Resources for Teens

The cool fall weather is finally here, but school is in session and your homework is piling up! Don’t worry, the library is here to help you out with resources that will help you get your homework and papers done, so that you can spend more time outside.

Family Fun for the Spooky Season!

The temperature has dropped, leaves are changing color, and Halloween is right around the corner! We are celebrating with magic shows, special storytimes, spooky science, and fun events for the whole family.

The New Fairfield Area Library is Open!

We are so thankful to all of you who attended the opening of the new Fairfield Area Library. More than 2500 citizens visited the library on Sunday, and checked out over 1100 books. We are honored to have the support of our community, and we look forward to serving you in this beautiful facility for years to come. Read on for more of the day’s highlights!

Celebrate Banned Books Week!

Life would be completely different if we weren’t able to choose what we want to read. Banning and challenging books takes away that choice. Today is the start of Banned Books Week and we are celebrating our freedom to read at the library!

Announcing our Summer Reading Prizewinners!

Summer Reading officially ended on August 31. We hope you had as much fun as we did this summer, visiting the library, learning new things at some of our programs, and reading so many great books!

Conquer the New School Year

You’ve logged your last book in our summer reading program, packed a backpack full of pencils, and headed back to school. After all, it’s September, which means school is back in session! Just because summer has come to an end, it doesn’t mean that fun at the library is over. HCPL has a number of programs in September to help you transition into the new school year or take your mind off your looming homework.
