Unattended Children

Enjoying the Library with Your Children

Remain with your child and provide proper supervision at all times.

Children under 10 must be accompanied and supervised by their parent, adult, or a responsible caregiver. A responsible caregiver bringing in minors under the age of 10 must be 18 or older.

Parents and caregivers are urged to prevent their children from being disruptive to others. Prolonged crying or tantrum-like behavior must be handled outside the building.

Henrico County Public Library cannot be responsible for unattended children or minors left after hours. If a minor has not been picked up by closing time, staff may notify the police.

Children's and Teens' Areas and designated computers are intended for the use of children, teens, and their families. Others should use Adult sections and computers.

Report any disturbing behavior or situations to a staff member immediately so that appropriate action may be taken.
