Summer Reading 2022: Oceans of Possibilities

We are excited to announce our 2022 Summer Reading Challenge: Oceans of Possibilities! In this year’s challenge, readers of all ages can explore the library’s collection, attend programs, submit written reviews, and participate in other activities to earn badges and prizes. Read on to learn more about how to participate.

READ BOOKS, DO ACTIVITIES, AND EARN PRIZES!

Sign up in person or online through Beanstack and be sure to stop by your local library to pick up your Summer Reading log, colorable bookmark, and sign-up prize of a beach ball (kids), a reusable water bottle (teens), or a beach bag (adults). Once you have logged at least one book, review, or activity, you will be automatically entered into our weekly $25 gift card drawings. These will take place on Fridays from June 24–August 12 and will feature local and major retailers. 

Earn a free book when you reach 10 badges. Badges can be earned by:

The more books you read and activities you participate in this summer, the more prizes you will be eligible to win. As you reach milestones along the way, you will earn tickets that can be used to enter various grand prize drawings. Winners will be announced on August 16th. Grand prizes include:

Mother Nature’s Road Show  

Tuesday, June 21st, 10:30-11:30AM at Tuckahoe Library, 1:30-2:30PM at Twin Hickory

Wednesday, June 22nd, 10:30-11:30AM at Libbie Mill Library

Thursday, June 23rd, 10:30-11:30AM at Varina, 1:30-2:30PM at Fairfield

Join us for a special visit from The Virginia Living Museum and their Mother Nature's Road Show - Shells by the Seashore. Explore the sea and the shore, and encounter different objects and animals that might be found on a trip to the seashore. 

The Chris Michael Experience 

Thursday, June 23rd, 3-4 PM at Glen Allen Library

This kickoff event will feature a visit from magician and rising star Chris Michael. Registration is required for all attendees (including parents/caregivers) and opens one month prior to the event. Please call the Glen Allen Library at (804) 501-1950 x 4 if you need help with registration.
